The Pilot Pro 8X Infrared Monocular is one of the best night vision devices that money can buy. It can see in complete darkness, can record video, and has an effective range in excess of 100 meters*

The Pilot Pro achieves night vision functionality by using a specialized CMOS sensor in combination with a 3W near-infrared illuminator. This sort of device, colloquially known as digital night vision, can be used for a number of applications but is most commonly used for nature observation, hiking, security, photography, wildlife surveillance, stargazing, construction, and virtually any form of outdoor recreation.

This model comes equipped with a proprietary firmware suite that includes digital crosshairs and 10X digital zoom. It also contains an interactive media suite which allows the user to record videos, take pictures, and play it all back locally (or export) in full 1920x1080 resolution.

One important thing to note about the Pilot Pro is that it is equipped with a 3X magnification glass optic. Due to the field-of-view curve, this means that the minimum practical observation distance is approximately 15 feet.
